Statement on Gov. Baker Reversing Decision on NG troops to Mexican border

Chelsea Kline, Democratic candidate for State Senate today released the following statement on Governor Baker's reversal on deploying the National Guard to the border:

"I'm glad Governor Baker has reversed his decision to send National Guard troops to support Donald Trump's evil immigration agenda. I hope this newfound enlightenment means the Governor will support the Safe Communities Act, which will ensure state resources are not used to cause further harm to immigrant families and children. But we shouldn't hold our breath - this is the same Republican Governor who wanted to keep Syrian refugees fleeing other atrocities out of Massachusetts."

Chelsea Kline was the only candidate for State State to call on the Governor to reverse his June 1 decision to deploy Massachusetts National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border. She has been a vocal critic of federal and state immigration policies, and a fierce advocate of the Safe Communities Act. A Northampton Democrat, she is the only candidate on the ballot in the race to the fill the Hampshire, Franklin & Worcester Senate seat.
