NARAL Endorses Chelsea Kline for Senate

Pro-Choice Organization Endorses Chelsea Kline for Senate
NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts cites Kline’s commitment to vulnerable populations

NORTHAMPTON – The NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts PAC - the electoral wing of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, the state’s leading grassroots pro-choice advocacy organization - has endorsed Chelsea Kline’s campaign for State Senate.

“In an era where the right to choose could be undone at any moment, and when many Massachusetts residents are still struggling to access comprehensive reproductive health care services, we need bold leaders like Chelsea Kline to take a stand for vulnerable people,” said NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts’ Legislative and Political Director Gena Frank. “Chelsea’s decades of political activism and her passion for protecting people in need make her the obvious choice for State Senate. We know Chelsea will be an effective and compassionate advocate for women and for working families because she always has been.”

“I’m proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts against anti-choice forces that seek to bring us backward,” said Chelsea Kline. “I joined the pro-choice movement more than twenty years ago, and through it found my passion for political activism and advocacy. Protecting women, protecting bodily autonomy, protecting marginalized people -- these values are at the core of who I am. I look forward to fighting for them in the State Senate.”

Chelsea Kline is a higher education leader, progressive organizer, and mother of three running for State Senate in the Hampshire, Franklin & Worcester District. As a former teen mother juggling multiple jobs just to make ends meet, Kline knows how difficult it can be for low-income people to stay above water. As the social safety net continues to fray, Kline will advocate for anti-poverty programs, invest in public education, champion single-payer health care, protect our environment, and defend reproductive freedom.

As a student at Smith College, Kline became a student organizer of the Civil Liberties and Public Policy conference and joined the Reproductive Rights Activist Service Corps. At Smith, much of Kline’s research was on the impact of governmental and religious laws on vulnerable and marginalized people. Kline went on to earn her Master’s in Theological Studies with a focus on Women, Religion, Gender, and Sexuality from Harvard Divinity School. She has been active in pro-choice advocacy since having her first daughter, Lulu, at age 19.

The NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts PAC joins a broad group of progressive organizations supporting Kline’s campaign, including the American Federation of Teachers, Progressive Massachusetts, Mass Alliance, the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus, and the Bay State Stonewall Democrats.
